Health Crisis Threatens Quake-Devastated Nepal

In the 12 days following the 7.8 earthquake that devastated the county, Nepal's hospitals and clinics are desperately trying to cope with the thousands of injured patients who seek aid in their facilities. About a third of the country's hospitals were damaged by the quake, but even before the calamity there were only 50 beds per 10,000 inhabitants. The country now faces epidemics given the absence of clean water and deplorable sanitary conditions. A visit by the teleSUR correspondent to a maternity hospital in the capital city of Kathmandu revealed how difficult the situation has become. teleSUR
