FSc Chemistry Book1, CH 10, LEC 11; Salt Bridge and Reversible Cell Functionality

2015-05-07 5

This video lecture from Electrochemistry (F.Sc. first year Chemistry) covers the function of salt bridge and the reversible cell operation of the galvanic cell. The salt bridge contains an aqueous solution of a salt in a gel, the purpose of which is to prevent any net charge accumulation in either of the two half cells. The galvanic cell may be made to operate the reverse chemical reaction by replacing the external circuit with a DC current source which opposes the direction of the current in actual cell.
