When space got tight for housing asylum seekers in Switzerland, one village was asked to play host and found a way to accommodate newcomers. The municipality of Wildhaus-Alt St. Johann, in canton St. Gallen, is home to 2,700 residents. At the end of last year, the village’s civil defence centre was chosen by the federal government to serve as a temporary shelter for asylum seekers. The centre hosted asylum seekers until the end of January after which they were relocated elsewhere.(SRF/swissinfo.ch)
