Now,... to the latest on the NYU student detained in North Korea.
Joo Won-moon,... a South Korean national and permanent U.S. resident, says he willfully entered the communist state late last month.
In an interview with CNN released Tuesday,... the 21-year old said he "wanted to be arrested."
Looking relaxed,... Joo said that he hoped his illegal entry would have a good effect on relations between the two Koreas.
He added that he wanted to show the world that an ordinary college student like him... could enter the state illegally and return home safely... "with the generous treatment of North Korea."
However, it's unclear whether Joo was speaking of his own free will or if any North Korean officials were present during the interview, as in previous interviews with other detainees in Pyongyang by foreign news organizations.
