DTI wants sugar price slashed

The price of sugar is now at a whopping P60 per kilo. This is higher than the suggested retail price (SRP), that is why the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) calls the attention of Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) to act on it. According to SRA, the price increase of sugar is due to the increase in demand this summer season and the implementation of value-added tax.
