International aid continues to arrive in Nepal following Saturday’s devastating earthquake.
But the needs are vast and the UN is appealing for US $415 million (more than 370 million euros) in emergency aid to provide help for the millions in need of food, water, shelter, medical treatment and protection over the next three months.
It says some 600,000 homes have been destroyed or damaged, leaving many living outdoors in makeshift tents.

“The timing of the intervention remains of the essence,” said the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Nepal, Jamie McGoldrick.
“Although I am heartened and encouraged by the progress of the response to date, efforts need to be maintained and stepped up to ensure vital assistance reaches all the affected, especially those in the remote areas”.
