St. Lucia: Human Trafficking Ring Victims Face Repatriation

2015-04-29 18

Police in Saint Lucia have confirmed that nine victims of a human trafficking ring left stranded on the Caribbean island nation have disappeared. The individuals, students from India, Nepal, and Philippines, were subsequently detained in Grenada, and are awaiting repatriation. For both Caribbean island countries it was their first case of human trafficking. The students and their families paid large sums of money for the voyage and are reluctant to sign repatriation papers as the terms forbid them from leaving their home countries.
