In what is left of Kathmandu’s Durbar Square, local and foreign volunteers have been helping soldiers and aid workers clear rubble from around an ancient temple.
They are working together to get the job done with whatever means they have – pickaxes, shovels or their bare hands.

Yet amid the ruins of treasures of a bygone age, that most modern means of communication – Facebook – has been used by local resident Sabin Dhozzossi to recruit willing helpers.
“I’ve been calling, on Facebook, to all the young guys helping us – cleaning up all the stuff from here,” he said.
The search for survivors goes on but every passing hour lessens the chance of anyone being found alive beneath the rubble.
