The CIneFix team gathers again, to discuss our most notable movie news items of the week. Including some awesome trailers, announcements. Not including Clint, who has flown off to Texas to splash his baby with water.
First of all there’s a new trailer for Tomorrowland, which was a movie that we weren’t sure what to make of. But now we’ve got a little more to go on.
Johnny Depp’s upcoming role in Black Mass, as infamous violent criminal Whitey Bulger makes us speculate that maybe he’s getting his career back on a serious acting track.
Speaking of serious roles, or the opposite thereof, Tyler Perry has signed on to Teenage Mutant Ninja Tutles 2 as Baxter Stockman: http://goo.gl/JlRdu8
Galaxy Quest, the glorious movie about a washed-up Sci-Fi TV show cast saving the galaxy is getting turned into a TV show. Which is like an infinite tunnel of mirrors, and it’s hard to tell what to think yet: http://goo.gl/9d9g7Z
In the meantime, Netflix is making “Fuller House” http://goo.gl/wHVix0
And Adam Sandler’s “The Ridiculous Six,” which didn’t go well for them this week, PR-wise: http://goo.gl/M6OBgv
Also, there are Six, count ‘em, SIX Robin Hood things in development right now, at pretty much all the studios. Dreamworks has “Merry Men,” Lionsgate has “Robin Hood: Origins,” Sony has a modern, Wachowski-helmed adaptation called “Hood.” Warner has an as-yet-untitled project from the writer of “Gangster Squad” and “Aquaman.” Disney has a swashbuckling fun romp.
Which Robin Hood project do you think will win this particular round of Development Wars? What old movie or TV property would you like to see shamelessly re-booted on Netflix? Does the addition of Tyler Perry make Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 more appealing to you? Are you excited for Tomorrowland or Black Mass?
