Apparently problems between rival political factions, Al Fatah and Hamas, are affecting the residents of the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian Unity Government seems to be torn between paying Palestinian Authority (PA) civil servants or Hamas civil servants who have been working in Gaza over the past seven years. While PA employees in Gaza are receiving 160% of their salaries, Hamas employees have not been paid for the past eight months. Some banks say they have received threats from one group or another.
