The Bolivian government has responded to a request for political asylum for a former Army Colonel. The officer fled the country after alleging that he was being persecuted due to information he said he had regarding a plot against President Evo Morales. Colonel German Cardona went to the media with allegations that the government, through the military, had given arms to a gang of right-wing mercenaries.
