Morocco: Government considers relaxing abortion ban

In Morocco, the government is considering relaxing a ban on abortions in order to allow women to legally terminate pregnancies under certain circumstances. King Mohammed VI has asked health and religious experts to come up with ways to revise the current law. Reforms could help reduce the stigma and marginalisation faced by unwed mothers, in a country where conservative religious beliefs remain widespread.
