Demonstrations were held yesterday in more than 230 U.S. cities demanding an increase in the minimum wage. They were the largest ever demonstrations by low paid workers, mainly from the fast food industry. The minimum wage is currently US$7.25 and workers and the labor movement are demanding that it be increased to US$15. According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, more than 25% of U.S. workers receive low wages, a higher percentage than any for other OECD member country. teleSUR
