http://aquatarium.ca Commerce & Industry have been a part of the St. Lawrence River since before Confederation, Brockville, ON K6V 4T7, the Aquatarium is the 1000 Islands RiverQuest™’ for all ages. Fast forward to 1914, the Queen of the St. Lawrence River, the SS Kingston, a mighty steamship that converted water to steam to drive her heavy screws, was once a popular ferry for travel down the St. Lawrence. Before the invention of buses, trains and cars, boats were the fastest form of travel through the region.
Today we think of travel in terms of how much time it takes us to reach our destination. It could take minutes or hours from start to finish. But a hundred years ago, when rivers and lakes were the highways that connected places, travel was measured in days and weeks.
