Italian Nurse Daniela Poggiali is currently under investigation for killing patients by injecting them with high doses of potassium because she thought they or their families were annoying, according the Central European News Agency.
High doses of potassium chloride can cause heart attacks. It’s one of the drugs used for U.S. executions and high levels of the drug were found in one of Poggiali’s alleged victims.
Her colleagues describe Poggiali as “cold” and said she once gave large amounts of laxatives to patients just “for fun.”
But potassium chloride fades from the bloodstream quickly, making it hard to detect, and Poggiali has not confessed to anything yet. Detectives say they will work hard to get to the bottom of this murky case.
