Anatoly Moskvin, age 46, is a well-known historian and writer, he has published over 13 books and is considered an expert on historical cemeteries in Russia.
But won’t be what makes him famous.
Back in 2011, Moskvin was arrested when his parents alerted police that he had been keeping mummified remains of children in his apartment. His parents had returned early from holiday and accidentally discovered the grisly dolls arranged in demure lady-like positions throughout the entire apartment.
Police discovered he’d been living with the mummified remains of 29 young girls and he would often dress them in bright colored clothing. He gave them names and often hosted birthday parties or tea parties with his human dolls.
After being kept in a psychiatric ward for almost 3 years, a judge has finally ruled that Moskvin is not mentally well enough to stand trial for his crimes.
Although Moskvin was a prolific grave robber, he has allegedly dug up over 150 bodies in career, none of the girls were killed by Moskvin. He also collected extensive information about each of the girls he had brought into his home.
In an article he published last month, he explains his interest in necrology had developed at an early age when he’d been forced to kiss the corpse of an 11-year-old girl. It may also explain his fixation with the corpses of children as he primarily collected the bodies of little girls ages 3-12.
