One of four men wanted in connection with a videotaped beating and armed robbery of a French Quarter tourist last month has been arrested, New Orleans police said Monday.
According to police four suspects surrounded a 27-year-old man walking by himself Oct. 12 around 4:30 a.m. in the 800 block of St. Louis Street. The group threw the victim to the ground, punched and kicked him before robbing him of his wallet and a Cartier gold watch worth more than $10,000 at gunpoint.
Edward Doyle, 27, was booked with armed robbery after an NOPD narcotics detective saw him in the doorway of a Bourbon Street nightclub Monday around 3 a.m. and recognized him from the video of the beating that took place mid-October.
Meanwhile, police have also obtained an arrest warrant for 23-year-old Bruce Jones, another suspect in the case. The two other suspects have yet to be identified.
Authorities are asking anyone with information on Jones or the case to contact NOPD 8th District detectives at 504.658.6020 or Crimestoppers at 504.822.1111.
