Transit authorities in Melbourne, Australia have released surveillance footage of a toddler in a stroller falling onto track at the city’s Diamond Creek station.
The 18-month-old baby fell off the meter-high station platform in her stroller and hit the rail face first. A man believed to be her grandfather then jumped onto the tracks to rescue the baby.
“There was no train in either direction for some time, thankfully,” Metro Trains Melbourne spokesman Larissa Tait said. The toddler suffered minor injuries to her face and was taken to Royal Children's Hospital.
Metro Trains Melbourne has issued a warning for passengers to be careful while on station platforms.
In September, a baby rolled off a train platform due to mom’s carelessness at Camberwell station. In 2009, also in Melbourne, a 6-month-old boy miraculously survived rolling off a platform, just as a train pulled into the station.
