Ever hear the proverb: “No good deed goes unpunished”? Well on Friday, a man in North Carolina got to experience this bromide in a pretty dramatic way.
Early that morning, Zia Segule, a U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Bragg, left for work but then decided to return unannounced and surprise his wife, Tiffany, with breakfast-in-bed.
Walking through the front door with all the ingredients for a romantic breakfast, Zia Segule must have felt quite proud of himself and might have even anticipated getting some post-breakfast nookie.
But he’d completely forgotten about his residence’s silent alarm.
Alerted to an unauthorized entry, Tiffany Segule went all “Oscar Pistorius,” firing several handgun rounds through the bedroom door and into her husband. He fortunately survived and was released from the hospital the same day, despite being hit in the upper chest.
When Zia Segule arrived home from the hospital, the media were out to greet him in force and pressed him for a comment, to which he simply said, "I’m good.”
