North Korea missile-armed submarine: Kim Jong Un may developing a new weapon

2015-04-14 11

North Korea may be developing submarines capable of launching missiles.

Satellite images show a submarine docked in North Korea’s east coast port of Sinpo with a large rectangular opening in its conning tower. This could be concealing one or two missile launch tubes, website 38 North reported.

Missile-launching submarines would be very difficult to locate and track and could attack targets from multiple directions, the report said.

If confirmed, North Korea’s ballistic submarine could pose a threat to South Korea and Japan and U.S. bases in East Asia, the report continued.

However, experts believe North Korea does not currently have the ability to launch missiles from submarines.
