Ventura police are searching for three men between the ages of 18-20 who set a homeless man on fire as he slept late Saturday.
According to police, John Frazier, 58, was asleep around 11pm when three white males with shaved heads and wearing dark clothing began to douse him with lighter fluid before setting him ablaze.
A good samaritan who saw the flames stretching nearly 6-feet in the air quickly rushed to Frazier’s aid.
The man, whose name has not been released, used sand to extinguish the fire and called 911.
When Ventura fire and police arrived, they found the man’s belongings smoldering and Frazier laying there burned on 40 percent of his body.
Frazier was transported to the hospital where he remains being treated for second and third degree burns on his torso and face.
Police are tight-lipped on whether or not they have clues to the suspects identities.
