Let's say you want to throw a birthday party for your kid. You plan on inviting all his friends and renting the use of a fun park for the party. The event will cost money.
You have two choices: pay for it yourself, or ask the guests to chip in.
But a mom in the UK took awkward to a new level by putting an “invoice” for £15.95, or about US$24, into the school bag of her son's friend Alex, because Alex didn’t show up to the party.
The “no-show” kid is 5 years old.
The woman’s invoice lists the reason for the bill as a “no-show” fee, but Alex’s parents said they were never asked to chip in, and had they been asked beforehand, they would have paid the fee even if they couldn’t have attended.
The reason the Walsh family didn’t show up to the birthday event was the date conflicted with the only time they could take Alex to see his grandparents for the Christmas holidays.
After getting the invoice, Alex’s dad was furious and told the mom she wouldn’t get a cent. Invoice mom’s response? She plans to take the family to small claims court.
Alex’s parents say they tried to contact the mom to tell her they couldn’t attend and that no mention of money was listed in the invitation.
