This past weekend, in front of a McDonald’s in Taipei, a group of junior high and high school students got into a bloody fight.
The fight was about bullying over social media. A high school girl had posted a picture of a younger female student when she was crying. The bully and her friends started making fun of how ugly the girl was when she cried.
The younger girl was upset and said she wanted to meet her bully face to face, so they arranged to meet at a nearby McDonald’s.
The younger girl asked her boyfriend and another male friend to accompany her.
But the female bully asked four other guys to accompany her and they brought along machetes. At some point the confrontation between the two girls escalated and the four guys who’d brought machetes started swinging.
The crying girl’s boyfriend suffered slashes down to the bone on both forearms and his friend was cut on his left hand and on his lower back.
The parents of both injured boys are filing assault charges against their son’s attackers.
Sticks and stones may break my bones….
