A local news channel in Philadelphia is reporting allegations of sexual activity on-duty involving as many as a dozen male members of the Philadelphia Fire Department. An investigation is underway by the Office of the Philadelphia Inspector General.
Sources cited by CBS 3 reveal top Fire Department officials are considering possible disciplinary action against some or all of the members. This, however, is pending the Inspector General’s final report.
According to the report, allegations under investigation include a female member engaging in sexual activity with two male members inside a vehicle and engaging in sexual activity with male members at several firehouses around the city.
The Inspector General reportedly took over the investigation after top city officials determined there were no grounds for filing criminal charges.
CBS 3 reports that unnamed sources say a final decision on disciplinary action is expected in the next two weeks. Once the decision is made, more details about the sex scandal are expected, including the names, ranks and assignments of those involved.
