In Kaohsiung, in the south of Taiwan, a man was seen attacking and beating monkeys randomly.
The Formosan rock monkey is a species indigenous to the the island of Taiwan and were once considered a critically endangered species. The monkey’s population has made a miraculous recovery in the past ten years, but the increase in population also increases the incidents where monkeys and humans come into contact with one another.
This man’s home has been invaded more than once by the clever fearless Formosan rock monkeys and he views them as an annoyance.
Then, recently, the man’s roof began leaking on rainy days. So, of course, he assumed it was due to damage caused by the monkeys.
Instead of fixing his roof, the man got a stick and drove up into the mountains, where he started hunting for random monkeys to attack.
Any monkey that was foolish enough to cross this man’s path was severely beaten until it escaped. A few other people and tourists in the area finally convinced the man to stop, although for several minutes it seemed as though the man would take his frustrations out on the tourists as well.
The monkey protectors reported the man to the police and after checking CCTV footage the police were able to to locate and arrest the man for animal abuse.
He won’t be beating any monkeys in prison, now will he?
