If it seems to you like most of the animals in Australia are trying to kill humans, you’re not wrong, they really are.
Tadashi Nakahara, a 41-year old Japanese national, had been living in Ballina in New South Wales, Australia for many years as a surfboard technician. Fond of catching the waves, he often spent his time on Shelly Beach.
It was just a normal summer day when Nakahara was out surfing, however unbeknownst to him, a 13-foot Great White was lurking just beneath the surface.
In shallow water, just 30 feet from shore, the shark struck, dragging him off of his board.
Nakahara lost both of his legs to the shark in the attack. Nearby surfers tried to save him, pulling him ashore and applying a tourniquet to stop the blood loss, but it all happened too fast and he died at the scene.
Authorities are now searching high and low for the shark. Shelly beach has been closed to the public in the meantime.
