Stupid selfie: U.S. tourists carve initials into Rome's Colosseum, take selfie and get arrested

2015-04-14 32

Two idiot tourists from California were arrested in Rome on Saturday after allegedly carving their initials into the Colosseum and taking a selfie just in case police were short on evidence.

The two women, aged 21 and 25, it appears left their tour group and used a coin to carve the 3-inch high letters J and N into the walls.

Even though signs warning against vandalism are posted all over the Colosseum in Italian and English, the two girls decided it was still no big deal.

The two geniuses were seen by other tourists, who notified security.

Police have charged the women with "aggravated damage on a building of historical and artistic interest."

"We apologize for what we did," the two reportedly said. "We regret it, but we did not imagine it was something so serious."

"We'll remember for a lifetime."
