Clouded leopard kitten: baby clouded leopard born at Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa, Florida

2015-04-14 61

The Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa, Florida, is home to a new clouded leopard kitten, one of the world’s most endangered cat species.

According to Caters News Agency, the male clouded leopard kitten was born to Yim and Malee, which arrived at the zoo in 2011 when they were six months old.

Clouded leopards are the smallest of the “big cats”. They are endangered as their habitat is under threat from deforestation in Southeast Asia, as well as hunting and poaching.

Clouded leopards are found in the Himalayan foothills throughout Nepal, India, Myanmar, Bhutan, Thailand, parts of Malaysia and southern China. There are fewer than 10,000 clouded leopards in the wild.
