Archie Brown Jr., a 41-year-old father of four, was driving a white van near Milwaukee's Wahl Park, Sunday evening when a 2-year-old child playing in a yard near the road suddenly ran into the street. Brown could not stop in time and the toddler was struck and killed.
Following the law, Mr Brown stayed at the scene and waited for authorities to arrive. But someone apparently decided to act as judge, jury and executioner. It's unclear if the shooter was related to the child, but just minutes after the accident, someone walked over and fatally shot Brown in the head.
A 15-year-old boy who may or may not have been a passenger in the van was also gunned down. He died later at hospital. Police are investigating if the shooter was an anguished dad, uncle or friend, but locals say there was no reason to turn one tragedy into three.
