Astronauts at the International Space Station recently shipped a box of sample tools made on a 3-D printer back home to NASA for inspection.

Here on Earth, when one finds themselves without the tools and parts required to do a job, the situation can be rectified with a quick trip to the hardware store.

For those at the International Space Station, such needs often aren’t as easy to meet, but NASA is working on changing that.

In November last year, the astronauts stationed up there installed a 3-D printer.

They recently shipped a box of sample items made by it back home to NASA for inspection.
