A robber with expensive tastes was apprehended last week by store owners who took matters into their own hands after he made the rounds at various Houston-area optometrist offices and stole thousands of dollars worth of high-priced eyewear.
Houston police arrested Danny Weston, 38, on charges of lifting over 19 pairs of glasses from at least three Texas State Optical offices totaling $9,000 dollars, according to police reports.
Weston took off with five pairs of Tom Ford sunglasses, six Versace glasses, and two pairs of Dior sunglasses from the Spring location last month, TSO employees said.
On March 31st, Weston called and made an eye appointment at the same optometrist office he stole from at the beginning of the month, but gave his real name to the receptionist.
When the optician discovered the suspect was coming back for a second helping, he got some help from off-duty members of Houston’s finest.
Weston’s lengthy rap sheet includes attempted robbery, theft, home invasions and several warrants for his arrest due to multiple unpaid traffic tickets.
