Ecuador: Diversification Results in Growth of Non-Petroleum Exports

2015-04-07 4

Ecuador posted 16% growth last year in non-petroleum exports, the result of efforts to diversify the national economy, given prevailing low international oil prices. Five products, mostly agricultural goods, accounted for 85% of the growth, with half of the country's overseas sales now corresponding to non-petroleum exports. In 2014 the Ecuadoran economy outperformed the regional average fourfold. Liz Scherffius reports from Quito. teleSUR
