A 60-year-old man and his dog found themselves in need of Coast Guard assistance when a hiking adventure went awry.

Finding one’s way through the expansive Washington wilderness can call for some special equipment, and sometimes it even requires the help of the Coast Guard. 

A 60-year-old man and his dog found themselves in need of the latter when a hiking adventure went awry. 

Help in looking for them was requested by Grays Harbor Country Search and Rescue when their efforts proved fruitless. 

They had begun looking for the pair at about 5 pm and by about 9:30 placed a call to the Coast Guard Sector Columbia River in Warrenton.
