Media reports in Russia say the government is ready to offer financial help to the Greek prime minister when he visits Moscow this week.
Alexis Tsipras is due in Russia on Wednesday for talks with President Vladimir Putin.
One newspaper in Moscow, Kommersant, says a discount on gas supplies and new loans may be considered.
Athens has embarked on a series of high-level visits; on Monday the Greek finance minister was in Washington.
Yanis Varoufakis told reporters: “The Greek government always meets all of its obligations to all of its creditors and that is what we intend to do ad infinitum.”
Meanwhile, Greece’s call for Germany to pay reparations for the Nazi occupation of the country is gaining momentum.
The country’s deputy finance minister said on Monday that Berlin owed Athens 279 billion euros. This includes damages for a massacre in the village of Distomo during World War Two.
