Today our host Jorge Gestoso interviews former CIA analyst and current anti-war activist Ray McGovern on the U.S. “War on Terror.” McGovern says that since the attack on the World Trade Center in 2001, the President, Security Services, Congress, and even the Supreme Court believe they can change the Constitution of the United States with the pretext of fighting terrorism. McGovern voices particular concern about the highly advanced development of fascism in the United States and says that the lack of an independent media is a major factor in this development. He finally got fed up with the CIA because he couldn’t go along with the torture it engages in and took the radical step of participating in a War Crimes Tribunal in 2006. Although he thinks recent whistleblowers have played a positive role, he believes that rescuing democracy in the United States will take a popular movement of people in the streets. teleSUR
