A World War II veteran in Virginia recently celebrated his 100th birthday and the United States Coast Guard hosted a party that included cake, presents and something no honorary veteran ceremony could be without - old tales of life at sea.

A World War II veteran in Virginia recently celebrated his 100th birthday and the United States Coast Guard hosted an honorary ceremony for him. 


The festivities were for Linwood Thumm, affectionately known as "Tick", who started his military career back in 1942. Then, Tick tried to join the U.S. Navy, but claims he was turned down because he didn't have three molars that matched.
