Lima indigenous inhabitants fight city hall on housing relocation

Some 226 families of the Shipibo and Konibo Amazonian indigenous communities, who have been living in Lima for decades, were relocated temporarily to make way for a massive highway system. The conditions in their new location are grossly inadequate. On Friday, they decided to sue the new city mayor Luis Castañeda for infringing on their fundamental rights by building new roadways instead of attending to their housing needs. They also say they ready to take their case to the United Nations if the mayor continues to refuse to engage in dialogue. Rael Mora reports from Lima. teleSUR
