Jazz Hands Replace Clapping At Conference To Deter Anxiety

A women’s conference in the U.K. has asked attendees to replace clapping with jazz hands to show support after one group made the request based on anxiety concerns.

Clapping is the generally accepted way of showing support, but it can be distracting for some. 

As a result, attendees of the recently held National Union of Students, or NUS, Women's Conference in the U.K., were asked to replace clapping with jazz hands to express support.

 This request seems to have initially come from delegates with the Women’s Campaign at Oxford University in a tweet on March 24.  

 The reason given was that clapping triggers anxiety in some people.
