The Ecuadoran government issued a statement charging that the AFP news agency distorted and took out of context comments by President Rafael Correa. While Correa had referred to CIA involvement in Latin American affairs, the AFP report, widely reprinted in other media outlets, was incorrect in asserting that the President charged that the CIA was involved in last Thursday's anti-government protests.
