NASA Developing Smartglasses For Astronauts To Wear In Space

NASA has partnered with San Francisco-based Osterhout Design Group to develop smartglasses for deployed astronauts that would allow them to access manuals, checklists, and other computerized features in their viewfinder while keeping their hands free to perform tasks.

Astronauts may soon have a new and wearable high-tech device to help them on future missions.


NASA has partnered with San Francisco-based Osterhout Design Group to develop smartglasses that incorporate virtual reality and augmented reality features. 


One of the initial goals for the new technology is to replace paper-based instruction manuals, how-to guides, and checklists so that astronauts can access information quickly and carry out instructions with both hands.
