At a ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the launch of cable television in Korea, President Park Geun-hye said the broadcasting industry is a comprehensive package of everything related to a creative economy.
She said the industry sits at the center of a convergence of cultural arts, video arts, and information and communications, and that merging Korean culture with world-class ICT will help the cable industry become Korea's next growth engine.
At the award ceremony held hours later,... Arirang TV's global project, "Embracing the World" received the prize for visual graphics.
The program follows overseas viewers for whom Korea's cultural assets such as K-pop, taekwondo and the Korean alphabet... have become part of their lives.
