On Thursday, the Bald Eagle Live Stream Nest Cam in Hanover, Pennsylvania recorded two determined eagles taking turns in an effort to keep their eggs warm.
As the snow fell, the nest started filling and they were there to keep watch on the two eggs inside and ensure they stayed warm.
Eventually, the birds' feathers were coated with snow as well. Judging by the photos, one would likely think the pair was freezing, however bald eagles are naturally protected from the cold.
They're remarkably insulated and by the simple act of raising and lowering their feathers, eagles are able to alter body temperature.
Brood patches allow them to easily transfer heat from their own bodies to the eggs.
In this case, neither bird seemed to be greatly affected by the cold, snowy conditions and one of them had it particularly rough after the level of snow in the nest had gotten so high, it reached the eagle's head.
