An Oregon family is alleging that a Clackamas County sheriff's deputy wrongfully shot and killed a miniature horse. The incident occurred on February 19th when the 30 year-old American Miniature Horse, which belonged to Crista and Adam Fitzgerald, escaped from a barn and wandered onto a neighbor's property.

The animal named Gir was lying on the ground when the neighbor made the discovery and called police, as the individual wasn't sure where the horse came from and initially believed it had been struck by a vehicle.
