Firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department recently rescued a dog that had somehow gotten stuck between a house and a retaining wall. According to a post on the department's Facebook page, a crew was sent to the scene following a call on Monday afternoon.

Upon arrival, they knew it was going to be a tough situation. Inspector Randall Wright explained, "Each time the dog would whimper or cry, he’d fall deeper into the 6-inch gap."

Firefighters were unable to break the walls down so they took a creative approach to rescuing the pet. They used a device called a pike pole, which is typically used during fires to bring down ceilings.

They slid it inside the crevice and under the dog to stop him from moving any further and then they secured webbing around his front paws. One firefighter
