Today Cody Weddle interviews two young people visiting Caracas for a meeting of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY). Nicolas Papaimitriu from Cyprus is President of the WFDY and Jacob Parasso from the United States represents the Young Socialists in his country. The two young men have come to show solidarity with Venezuela at a time when Venezuela is facing an economic war and feel that international support is vital in confronting this situation. They also want to be able to go home and tell people in their countries about the reality in Venezuela firsthand. Each guest talks about struggles they are involved in at home in support of workers and against police and military violence and imperialist domination. Nicolas Papaimitriu says that the people of Cyprus are no strangers to such aggression. Their country has been occupied by Turkey since 1974 and has faced continuous imperialist intervention. Jacabo Parasso says that his group is engaged in a struggle against the aggression in all parts of the world committed by the United States, the wealthiest imperialist power and the most violent ruling class that’s ever existed. Both guests admire the changes that have been made by Venezuela in making a better life for the people and oppose all sanctions against the country. teleSUR
