Argentina commemorates 38th anniversary of massive book burning

Friday, February 27, marked the 38th anniversary of an attack on culture in Argentina. About 90,000 books from the University Publishing House of Buenos Aires (Eudeba) were burned. This practice continued during the years of the military dictatorship and the most serious episode took place on June 26, 1980, when more than 1.5 million books, including works of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Julio Cortazar, and Pablo Neruda, were burned. teleSUR
