In this program, we learn that since the recession began in the United States in 2007, the number of people receiving food stamps has increased drastically. In the face of the economic slowdown, unemployment and low wages, the parents of sixteen million girls and boys have turned to this form of federal assistance. But recent cuts means that each family receives less than before. Edwin is a father who works more than 10 hours a day, yet he doesn't make enough money to support his family. He formerly received $184 a month in food stamps, but after the cuts, he only receives $84, making life much more difficult. Alexandra Hall for teleSUR
