Police in the UK have expressed concerns about three schoolgirls from London who recently boarded a flight to Turkey and may cross into Syria.

Police in the UK have expressed concerns for three schoolgirls from east London who recently boarded a flight to Turkey and may cross into Syria.

The fear is that the females could possibly join the terrorist group ISIS. On Tuesday the three friends, two aged 15 and one aged 16, flew from England's Gatwick Airport on a plane than landed in Istanbul later in the evening.

The families of the girls alerted law enforcement that they were missing when they didn't return to their homes. The parents of all three girls last saw them on Tuesday when they said they'd be out for the day and gave what is described as "plausible reasons" for why they wouldn't be around.

Metropolitan Police Commander Richard Walton said investigators are trying to reach out to the females via Turkish media and social media to express the dangers of entering Syria and
