A Benton County Superior Court Judge ruled Baronelle Stutzman of Arlene’s Flowers, the Richland florist, violated the Consumer Protection Act by refusing to design the flowers for a gay couple's wedding.

Attorney General Bob Ferguson stated “If you have a business and you provide a service to heterosexual customers you must provide the same service to your gay customers,” he said. “I've always felt the law is very very clear. Her conduct was unlawful. Of course she has the right to appeal it and it would end up in our state supreme court, potentially."

The attorney for Baronelle Stutzman said they will appeal the court's decision, saying "the message of these rulings is unmistakable: the government will bring about your personal and professional ruin if you don't help celebrate same-sex marriage."
