The aerobatics team from Czech Republic was in the midst of one of its performances when the accident occurred.

The four-member team of the acrobatic fliers, Flying Bulls, managed to escape unhurt when one plane hit the wing of the other at the Aero India 2015 going on at the Air Force station in Yelahanka, Bengaluru, on Thursday afternoon.

The aerobatics team from Czech Republic was in the midst of one of its performances when the accident occurred. During one of the manoeuvres, the wing of one of the planes hit the wing of the other. The plane that was hit, sustained damages almost up to the cockpit.

However, both the planes managed to land safely.

The plane that was hit, was flown by 66-year-old Radka Machova, lead pilot with Flying Bulls.

Due to the accident, the air show was stopped momentarily but after a half an hour delay it has resumed.

According to the official statement by Ministry of Defence, the accident occurred at around 3 p.m. and over the runway. The planes landed immediately and everybody is safe. Since some metallic object may have fallen due to the collision, the runway was checked and cleared of any fallen objects. This caused the half an hour delay. The required investigative procedures are being followed.

The Flying Bulls team were to perform till February 22.
